Fred Ellis ACMA – Managing Director

Fred has worked in the business since 1979 and was one of the three directors involved in the rescue from the receivership of Acrow group in 1984.  He was responsible for the reintroduction of fabrication work into Thos Storey.  Fred has formerly held Deputy Managing Director and Finance Director positions within Thos Storey Limited and Thos Storey (Engineers) Ltd.

Fred is former director of the Stockport Chamber of Commerce and former member of the Executive Council of the Engineering Employers Federation for the North West.

 


John Huggins FIOD – Operations Director

John joined Thos Storey from Rolls Royce in 1989.  In 1993 he was responsible for the diversification into the public service vehicle sector (by introducing fabrication work for the UK’s largest public service vehicle builder) and the relocation of the fabrications division in 1995.  John has formerly held the position of Production Director of Thos Storey Limited and Thos Storey (Engineers) Ltd.

John is currently a director of New East Manchester, the body tasked with the regeneration of East Manchester.

 


Clive Gallagher MBA – General Manager, Manchester

Clive joined Thos Storey in 1979 as an apprentice.  He progressed to become sub-contract foreman 1986 – 1990, QA Manager 1990 – 1992 when he implemented QMS to BS5750 pt 2, and Product Group Manager for ISO Container division 1993 – 1996 when he introduced flexible working patterns that enabled the plant to build and finish sixteen forty-foot high cube containers per day.

Since 1997 Clive has been the General Manager in Manchester and is currently responsible for all aspects of production from contract development and production engineering through to manufacture and delivery to customers.

Clive has continued with his professional development, gaining his MBA in 2005 followed by an extensive Director Development course.

Clive has been pivotal in Thos Storey’s Carbon Reduction accreditation, and is ensuring that the schemes and projects put in place are continually moved forward.

 


Tony Ramsdale – General Manager, Lloyds UK, Rugby

Tony joined Thos Storey in 1980 as a mechanical engineering apprentice.  As Quality Manager 1992 – 1999 he was responsible for the introduction and accreditation of management systems to BS EN ISO 9001 for the bridging and container divisions and BS EN ISO 9002 for the fabrications division.

Since 1999 Tony has bee the General Manager of Lloyds UK in Rugby.  As well as supporting production activities, he is currently responsible for maintaining all aspects of the management system and development of transport, environment and energy policies and procedures.

 


Joanne Lynch LLB (Hons) PG Dip HRM – HR & Safety Manager

Joanne graduated from Hull University in 1998 with a 2:1 in Law.  She then worked for two years for NatWest looking after corporate accounts and tendering for transmission business before joining Thos Storey in 2000 as Health & Safety Officer and completing the NEBOSH Certificate for Occupational Health & Safety in 2001.

Joanne took on the role of HR & Safety Manager in 2002 after gaining a postgraduate diploma in HR Management from Manchester Metropolitan University. 
Joanne possesses a wealth of experience and knowledge on employment within the EU and has been quoted in the Financial Times and other national newspapers.  She is currently Chair of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s Employment and Skills Committee, which is responsible for lobbying government and other agencies to give the employer’s view on proposed employment law, skills agendas and training initiatives. 

 


Geoff Floyd – Quality Manager

Geoff joined Thos Storey as Quality Manager in 1999.  Since then Geoff has helped develop quality control procedures, working procedures and best practice to enable year on year improvements to be made.  He is currently involved in developing and promoting the 6-Sigma philosophy within the business.

In addition, Geoff is also responsible for maintaining the management system and development of the environmental and energy policies and procedures.


Mike Walton CIMA – Financial Controller

Mike joined Thos Storey in 2000 as a Company accountant whilst completing his formal qualifications to become fully CIMA qualified.

In 2003 Mike was promoted to Financial Controller and successfully transferred the accounting functions from two other sites into the Head Office systems.

Mike has day to day control of the small accounting team.  He produces full monthly management accounts and prepares the full content of the statutory accounting packs for external audit and liaises with the auditors for a timely completion of the year end work.
