Investors In People
In December 2004 Thos Storey Fabrications Ltd was recognised
as an Investor In People, following our first ever assessment.
A number of good practices carried out by TSF were identified,
and the assessor highlighted these:
“The business demonstrates clear commitment to the development
of all staff. In fostering this culture, it sees strong business benefits especially
in helping to overcome skill shortages.”
“Everyone understands their roles and how they fit into
the business’s aims and objectives. People are, for example, clear about
how production targets, quality, cost control and cost recovery contribute to
the success of the company.”
“The support that staff receive from their supervisors
and managers is valued. The Directors and General Manager are well respected
for their skills, knowledge and commitment. People at all levels felt that the
managers act to provide relevant development opportunities.”
“Induction is provided for all new starters and those
who move jobs are given ample opportunity to learn under the guidance of suitably
qualified or experienced colleagues. There are many good examples of effective
learning encompassing work based learning, internal development and courses
leading to formal qualifications.”
On 31 March 2005, Thos Storey was formally awarded the IiP plaque
in a ceremony at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.
Thos Storey is fully committed to the ideals and standards set
out by IiP, and these have been included within our continuous improvement programme.
Action For Young People (A4YP)
In April 2005, Thos Storey Fabrications Ltd became one of the
inaugural companies involved in the A4YP initiative.
The new A4YP ‘brand’ is a watermark, similar in
intent to IiP, for companies engaged in the development of young people.
We at Thos Storey take great pride in our commitment and dedication
to the training and education of young people; across our sites we currently
have 10 Young Apprentices and happily accept school work experience placements. If you are interested in either an apprenticeship with Thos
